Buzby is very laughable! I highly recommend this series to anyone with children. My kids Care For Hermie & Friends, and I really like the screech. You should definitely give this series a try- we like it even better than Veggie Tales. :)

This is a mammoth DVD. Very engrossing for my 4yr ancient grandson. Also teaches spacious life-lessons.

I unbiased finished watching this movie and I am extremely vexed. The fable is filled with so powerful despise and so grand blatant bigotry that my hands are actually shaking as I sit here and type this. No movie has ever touched me as “The Magdalene Sisters” did.

First, let me honest say that all the men in this movie are disgusting, gross COWARDS!! The men can do no infamous while the ladies have to sacrifice for no apparent reason. That is terribly unjust.

The Magdalene House is a jail-like home. It’s speed by pedophile priests that luxuriate in taking advantage of handicapped ladies and sadistic nuns that obtain personal pleasure out of abusing the ladies that live there.

The movie revolves around 3 young ladies that were sent to a Magdalene House; each for different reasons. One of the young ladies was raped, another was too blooming, and another had a child out of wedlock. What exactly was their crime that caused them to be locked up for years and years you might be asking? After all, they were being punished and told that they were good-for-nothing sinners! Their crime was: female sexuality! Apparently, the Catholic Church of Ireland found that to be the ultimate crime. And, as a result they punished these abominable young ladies mercilessly.

There is only one incandescent light in this very faulty movie. That is at the very waste when two of the young ladies run. They were fearless enough to score out and free themselves of all beatings, disfavor, and sexual abuse.

Thousands of women more were enslaved in these concentration camps until their pitiful deaths. Words along cannot represent this tragedy.

This movie is a proper myth which took station in Ireland. Thank you to Peter Mullen for making a movie about this topic.

“The Magdalene Sisters” is a fact-based chronicle of three young Irish women who were imprisoned in a Magdalene Laundry in Dublin in 1964. The unusual purpose of the ten Magdalene Laundries that were established in Ireland in the 19th century was to reform prostitutes. Women were imprisoned by the Station and Church and expected to do penance for their sins through hard work and prayer. By 1930, instead of being populated by venerable prostitutes, Ireland’s Magdalene Laundries were occupied primarily by unwed mothers whose families had rejected them. An estimated 30,000 Irish women were detained in the Laundries during the 20th century, until the last one closed in 1996, and were veteran as a slave labor force, working from dawn until dusk to turn a profit for the Order that administered the Laundries.

“The Magdalene Sisters” tells the stories of Margaret (Anne-Marie Duff), who is sent away from her home after being raped at a family wedding, Bernadette (Nora-Jane Noone), whose caretakers at the orphanage where she grew up banish her to the Laundry to prevent her apt looks from causing any danger, and Rose (Dorothy Duffy), who is scorned by her family after bearing a child out of wedlock. These three teenagers reach at the Magdalene asylum at the same time and together enjoy its abuses and indignities over the course of years. The three lead actresses give comely performances. Geraldine McEwan and Eileen Walsh give stand-out performances as Sister Bridget, chief administrator of the asylum, and Crispina, a mentally challenged inmate, respectively. The film does represent the Irish Catholic Church in a unpleasant light -at least the microscopic portion of it that we stare. But the Church fares no worse than the government that supported the imprisonment of women who had committed no crime or, even more appalling, the self-righteous, hideously self-absorbed parents who delivered their children into imprisonment and slavery because they were petrified of what the neighbors would reflect. “The Magdalene Sisters” presents lively intertwined stories about a very poor reduce of Irish history.

The DVD: This disc’s single bonus feature is the inaptly titled 50-minute documentary “Sex in a Frigid Climate”. This is an recent British documentary film which inspired writer/director Peter Mullan to write “The Magdalene Sisters”. The documentary features the stories of three women who were confined in Magdalene Laundries in their youth, and one woman who grew up in an orphanage that adjoined one of the Laundries. It’s unclear to me whether these women were the basis for the characters in the “The Magdalene Sisters” or not. Their stories are similar enough to those in the movie to produce me reflect so, yet they differ in timing and details. For the feature film, subtitles are available in French and Spanish, and captions are available in English. Dubbing is available in French. Four unavoidable “public service” spots precede the film, narrated by movie stars and aimed at women with anorexia, alcoholism, self-esteem, and spousal abuse problems. What will we have to sit through next?

Compare Prices on Family Guy, Vol. 4

First off, what is with the selection screens? I have to adjust my television objective to read the options! Anyway, several episodes here are up to the high standards of previous Family Guy seasons. My favorites are “PTV,” “The Bulky Guy Strangler,” “Father, Son, and the Holy Fonz,” and “You May Now Kiss…” (Jasper is silly) . Others, however, I found to be mediocre or objective dull terrible (”Patriot Games”) . There are not as many episodes I want to sight over and over as there are on volumes 1-3, but this season is level-headed splendid enough for 4 stars. There are a lot of extras on disc 3, too. 44 deleted scenes and you can choose all and have them play one after the other (some of these jokes are better than the ones that got left in the shows) . The featurettes are very involving where many of the directors and artists are interviewed on what all is entailed in putting a explain together. Also, these episodes are uncensored (there is an F-Bomb dropped or two) but there is a censored option (isn’t it usually the other intention around? ) . Anyway, here are the episodes:

Buy,Download, Or Stream Family Guy, Vol. 4! Click Here

Disc 1

“PTV”: A wardrobe malfunction gripping David Hyde Pierce at the Emmys causes the FCC to censor all tv–”The `bleep’ Van `bleep’ Indicate, Starring `bleep’ Van `bleep.’ So Peter starts his enjoy network featuring such highbrow programs as “The Side-Boob Hour” and “Dogs Humping.”

“Brian Goes Wait On to College”: The Current Yorker magazine is keen in Brian as a contributor but requires a college degree. Brian had dropped out of Brown University. It’s queer to contemplate of an titillating dog in this map, but I’d always understanding Brian was so frosty and together. Hearing him lament about how he never finishes anything attach a original scamper on his character.

“The Courtship of Stewie’s Father”: Chris works for that disgusting used man who likes young boys while Stewie and Peter bond over something they both appreciate immensely: terrorizing Lois. This episode almost makes one sympathize with that venerable pediaphile (well, almost) .

Buy,Download, Or Stream Family Guy, Vol. 4! Click Here

“The Corpulent Guy Strangler”: My common of this volume. Lois finds out she has a brother who went crazy after seeing their mother having relations with Jackie Gleason (hence his hatred of corpulent men) . Meanwhile, Peter makes the ugly discovery that he is tubby and starts the NAAFP.

“The Father, the Son and the Holy Fonz”: Peter’s father baptizes Stewie with atrocious holy water and he has to be quarantined in a plastic bubble. Meanwhile, Peter starts the church of the Fonz–”Please rise…..Now sit on it.”

Disc 2:

“Brian Sings and Swings”: A near-death experience causes Brian to feel he must live for the moment so he hooks up with Frank Sinatra Jr. as portion of the Original Rat Pack. A funnier side epic is Meg pretending to be a lesbian to be favorite into a club.

“Patriot Games”: This has to be the most stupidest Family Guy ever. Peter meets Tom Brady and joins the Unique England Patriots (along side Diet Pepsi machine? ) but is transferred to a London team for showboating. Meanwhile, Brian fails to pay a debt and Stewie gives him a beat-down mob-style.

“I Acquire Thee Quagmire”: Quagmire gets married and soon realizes it was a mistake. Meanwhile, Lois is weaning Stewie but he finds he is addicted to breast milk.

“Sibling Rivalry”: Peter donates to a sperm bank and Stewie’s rival baby is born (remember “Emission Impossible”? ) . Meanwhile, Peter stops having relations with Lois after his vasectomy and Lois gets plump. I like that allotment. Another highlight: Chris’s shoebox diarrhea of the evolution of man.

“Deep Throats”: After getting what he deemed to be an excessively high parking trace, Brian wants to derive dirt on Mayor West and sees him dating his young intern: Meg.

Disc 3

“Peterotica”: First off, that Quagmire stuff in the beginning is very annoying. Anyway, Peter writes erotic novels and uses Lois’s father’s name as the publishing company. When someone gets into a car accident listening to Peter’s book on tape (read by Betty White), Mr. Pewterschmidt loses everything and must recede in with the Griffins.

“You May Now Kiss the…Uh…Guy Who Receives”: (You fetch it? Hahaha) . Brian’s contented cousin Jasper plans on marrying his partner but Brian first must fight Mayor Wests’ ban on jubilant marriage.

“Petergeist”: Peter digs in the yard and finds an Indian skull and unfamiliar things commence to happen. Portion of the set is similar to that Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors where a 3D Homer is stuck in another dimension.

“The Griffin Family History”: The Griffins are stuck in a scare room while their house is being robbed so Peter tells them stories of his ancestors Nate the slave, Willie “Black-Eyed” Griffin the tranquil comedy star, and Peter H*tler who was the brother of…yeah.

I’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of this collection since the waste of the 3rd volume. But instead of listless you with all my details here it is, my review.

I received this edition for Christmas, actually, I received the Target Collector’s Edition. With this edition (along with the DVD’s) comes a book of Artist Series Postcards containing pictures of Peter, Quagmire, 2 of Brian, 2 of Stewie, a postcard of Peter and Brian, and a postcard featuring Meg. This edition also comes with 3 storyboard cards, one from each of the 3 previously released volumes (”If I’m Dyin’ I’m Lyin’” from Volume 1; “Lethal Weapons” from Volume 2, and “North by North Quahog” from Volume 3) .

The edition also contains the uncernsored tracks to five of the episodes, though there isn’t really noteworthy inequity in adding those tracks in my belief. Was a runt surprised to hear the F-word a couple of times, but that was all.

The episodes contained on this volume are…

Disc 1:

PTV: Television has been heavily censored by the FCC, Peter takes action by performing his occupy “as nature intended” channel. This leads the FCC to engage more drastic action censoring the people of Quahog themselves.

Brian Goes Succor to College: After being snubbed by the staff of The Recent Yorker for not graduating, Brian returns to college to procure his degree. All the while, Peter, Joe, Cleveland, and Quagmire, acquire the “current” A-Team.

The Courtship of Stewie’s Father: Chris breaks one of broken-down man Herbert’s windows and must do chores in order to pay help his debt. Stewie and Peter inaugurate hanging out with each other doing their most accepted activity, tormenting Lois.

The Tubby Guy Strangler: Lois finds out that she has a long lost brother living in an insane asylum, but is shy by his horrified past. Peter creates the NAAFP (Natinal Association for the Advancement of Stout People) .

The Father The Son, and The Holy Fonz: Peter’s devout Catholic father returns for a visit and Peter decides to form his have religion for worshippers of “The Fonz”.

Disc 2:

Brian Sings and Swings: Following a car accident, Briand falls into a deep depression, but is rapid brought out of it by meeting and singing with Frank Sinatra Jr in a local nightclub.

Patriot Games: During his 25-year high school reunion, Peter meets Patriots QB Tom Brady who recruits Peter for the team because of his runing skills.

I Rob Thee Quagmire: After Peter wins a week of free maid service on a game present, Quagmire falls in admire for the maid, and they soon opinion to wed. Until Quagmire, learns about that his bride to be is a few fries short of a pleased meal.

Sibling Rivalry: Nine months after a mishap at the sperm bank, Stewie’s half brother Bertram is born to a lesbian couple and the two battle it out for world domination.

Deep Throats: After Meg lands an internship in the Mayor’s Office, Brian and Stewie go undercover in an attempt to demonstrate Mayor West.

Disc 3:

Peterotica: Peter becomes a best selling novelist for erotica, but ruins his father-in-law after a book of Peter’s is published on tape resulting in a colossal lawsuit.

You May Now Kiss The …Uh…Guy Who Receives: Brian’s glad cousin comes to visit the family, bringing his fiance along with him. After the two resolve to marry, a same-sex marriage ban is proposed as Brian works ferersihly to reverse Mayor’s West decision.

Petergeist: Peter disturbs an aged burial plot in an attempt to one-up Joe after he gets his novel home theater system. The spirit of the plain indian leader then wreaks havoc on the Griffin family.

The Griffin Family History: After burglars atomize into the Griffin house, the family hides in a anxiety room. Now faced with imminent death, Peter retells the history of the family in their last hours of life.

And that’s all of the episodes that reach along with this volume. However, with my edition, I received a special bonus disc with a sneak spy at Seth Macfarlane’s current demonstrate “The Winner”. It also contains an episode of American Dad: Roger ‘N’ Me.

I really enjoyed this volume of Family Guy and sight forward to more seasons from this titanic reveal.

Joss Whedon was so upset with the blueprint things were going on the state of the movie, for which he wrote the screenplay but over which he exercised no artistic control, that he walked off the spot. Indeed, this is a very hard movie to view today after the TV series. I did, in fact, moderately luxuriate in the movie when it first came out. I actually appreciated and enjoyed the absurd tension contained in the title, an airhead bimbo cheerleader called upon to be her generation’s vampire slayer. But viewed today, the movie isn’t terribly successful, and is in fact made distinguished worse by the genius of the television series. It isn’t unprejudiced a put a question to of Sarah Michelle Gellar being more intriguing in the title role than Kristy Swanson (though SMG’s distinguished smaller stature increases the paradox of a diminutive girl beating up expansive, supernaturally strong vampires) or the movie missing all the familiar characters of the show; the movie is almost completely devoid of its bear style, perceive, and feel. Although the TV series started off on a dinky budget, it instantly had a compelling view and visual style that the movie completely lacks. Furthermore, on TV they managed a coolness and hipness that the movie never comes stop to. Unfortunately, the series has radiant noteworthy reduced the movie to a curio.

Many talk of the movie falling short of Joss Whedon’s vision in writing the recent script. Actually, overall the place isn’t too terribly different. Buffy doesn’t burn down the gym at the destroy in the movie as Whedon wrote, but while there are many stylistic differences, many of the main residence elements were retained. I earn the main dissimilarity between the movie and the series to be in the “how” they shriek the anecdote rather than the “what” in the chronicle. Cleverness and intelligence permeates the TV show; the movie is nearly entirely devoid of those qualities. Steal the death of vampires. In the movie, they collect staked and simply topple down. In the TV series, they explode, which is not merely a spectacular special accomplish traditional to big purpose, but, as Joss Whedon mentions on the DVD commentary, leaves less well-kept up as there are not bodies. Also, in the movie, there isn’t anywhere approach the emotional depth that one finds in the series.

Another piece of the plight with the movie is the casting. Kristy Swanson isn’t unpleasant except when compared to Gellar, but Donald Sutherland is fair poor. He plays his allotment as if he were a cartoon character, with a degree of camp that subtracts considerably from his humanity. In fact, the performances are almost uniformly terrible. Not objective Sutherland, but Rutger Hauer (someone I have loved in many other movies, especially in his Dutch films) and Paul Reubens develop one almost unwatchable scene after another. David Arquette is at his worst here as well. In fact, the vampires are both poorly conceived and horribly executed, in difference to the TV series. Many have famous the number of performers in supporting roles who later became well known, such as Ben Affleck, Natasha Gregson Wagner, and Hillary Swank (not to mention Stephen Root, who memorably played Milton the stapler guy in OFFICE Station)

Buy,Download, Or Stream Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Click Here

On top of all this, the thing that location the TV demonstrate apart from most other forms of celebrated entertainment was the degree to which it allowed for deep interaction among the various character, something made virtually impossible by the short format of a film (and something that in the long bustle should show to be television’s innate superiority over film, if it can ever overcome the resistance of television network execs to perform art rather than vehicles for selling airtime for commercials–my scare is that BUFFY could be an exception rather than a harbinger of things to near) .

In short, while not an terrible movie, the movie version of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER is not the masterpiece the television series is.

Pity dreadful Buffy (Kristy Swanson) . She objective wants to bask in her life as a cheerleader/Valley girl when some scruffy old-fashioned guy (Donald Sutherland) shows up and tells her she is “the Chosen One.” You cannot enjoy how being a Vampire Slayer puts a crimp in a young girl’s lifestyle. But when vampires (Rutger Hauer & Paul Reubens) are snacking on your classmates, what’s a girl to do but grab some stakes and regain down to some serious slaying. Fortunately, there is a cute guy (Luke Perry) as a bonus.

For fans of the hit television series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” the novel movie is certainly a mixed bag. The strengths of the film approach from Joss Whedon’s script, which takes the …plan of the blonde bimbo being chased by the monster and reverses it so that she end’s up kicking the monster’s butt. The weaknesses of the film reach from director Fran Rubel Kuzui, who plays the whole thing for camp, personified by Paul Reubens over the top turn as “Lefty” and his agonizingly long death scene. But if you listen past the bellow to the real lines, you can clearly earn the foundation for the Buffy character on television.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Click Here

Donald Sutherland lends a determined amount of weight to the proceedings as Buffy’s Watcher, but Rutger Hauer’s powerful presence is lost in his campy Vampire King. What looks the most out of station is the fighting style of Kristy Swanson as Buffy, which combines martial arts with gymnastics and cheerleading, which, again, fits more into the camp style of the film. Ultimately the direction overwhelms the promise of the script and we are left with basically a one-joke film that does not gather too far off the ground. But if you compare this to the pilot for the television series, you certainly catch a better feel for how Joss Whedon refined his vision of the Slayer.

I was aware of Fractals in general as we all are. However this presentation takes it to unique heights. We learn that it is more about math. We regain to contemplate how fractals are not only a piece of nature but fractals actually have practical applications and potentials for future disciplines.

If you do not personally apply the information at least you will be fractal literate. Me, I am going to select some of Benoit Mandelbrot’s books. The first one mentioned in the DVD is out of print (rare) . Then I was surprised to eye that fractals were applied to woven fabrics. I wonder if there is a pattern book or if I will have to beget my gain drafts?

I only saw the Blu-ray version so I cannot compare. The pictures are crisp but not over enhanced. The rare very few to nil extras on the DVD as it is a verbalize copied of the NOVA program, including the sponsors.

Compare Prices on Forbidden Games: The Criterion Collection

In French the title of this movie is perhaps appropriate, but in English it is misleading. What is “forbidden” about the games that the children play has nothing to do with sex (the usual designation of “forbidden” in English) . Instead what 11-year-old Michel Dolle (Georges Poujouly) and 5-year-old Paulette (Brigitte Fossey) do that is forbidden is they assume crosses, from the cemetery, from the top of a horse-drawn hearse–Michel even attempts to prefer the rector’s crucifix. They do this as a method of coping with death. The crosses are for listless animals, her dog, some chicks, a worm, etc. that they have buried in a microscopic location under the mill approach a stream.

But this is not a scare indicate or anything like it. Instead, René Clément’s noted narrative of childhood esteem is actually a strongly religious anti-war movie of astounding delicacy, laced with humor and poignancy.

It begins with an air attack on a stream of people (presumably Parisians running from Paris) along a country road trying to dash the encroachment of the Nazi army. Shrimp Paulette is in a car with her parents and her microscopic dog, Jock. They are gunned down by a German fighter plane. Paulette’s parents and the dog are killed. Paulette is left alone carrying the lifeless dog in her arms. Eventually she wanders onto a farm where she is met by Michel who takes an instant liking to her and becomes her protector and her friend. His is a peasant family of farmers who really don’t need another mouth to feed, but they purchase her in. She is so neat, they screech and she smells so ample. She is from Paris. She has honest undergone the most substandard awe, the death of her parents and her dog, and now she must somehow near to grips with that loss. What transpires is a child’s interpretation of the healing power of religious ritual and symbol.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Forbidden Games: The Criterion Collection! Click Here

Clément uses the world of the children as a counterpoint to the war in the background and as a gentle satire on the church. The children develop a game of religion and in doing so display the healing power of ritual and sacrament.

What makes this totally unusual and deeply symbolic film work is the uncluttered and naturalistic vision of Clément and his incredible direction of his two small stars. Fossey in particular is astonishing. She is completely unaffected and natural, an adorable cramped girl suddenly alone in the world who must fabricate a novel world for herself against immense odds. Her sense of personal integrity and her strong will makes us enjoy that somehow she will succeed. Incidentally, Fossey’s performance here in conveying the creative world of the child should be compared with 4-year-old Victoire Thivisol’s performance in Jacques Doillon’s Ponette (1996), as should the skill and vision of the directors. Both are deeply religious films that rely on the pre-socialized world of the child to display us our believe spirituality.

Also very superior is Poujouly as the farm boy who loves limited Paulette and shows that appreciate by assuming the psychological and spiritual responsibility for helping her to overcome the tragedy of being so brutally orphaned. He is himself experiencing a pre-adolescent coming of age, a transition exemplified by rebellion and a growing independence of mind and spirit. Poujouly is intense and fully engaged, so grand so that in one scene we can notice him mouth in unison Paulette’s lines in preparation for his time to sing. Clément left this in perhaps because he knew it would further narrate Michel’s intensity.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Forbidden Games: The Criterion Collection! Click Here

This film won the Colossal Prize at the Venice Film Festival in 1952 and an Academy Award the same year as best foreign film. It is one of the wonders of the French cinema, a masterpiece of the human spirit not to be missed. Eye it for the children, whose strength of character can inspire us all.

Forbidden Games deals with the reaction of a couple of children -Paullette, who losses both her parents as the consequence of an air attack, and Michel, the youngest of a peasant family in which Paullete finds refuge- in the context of the horrors of war, in this case, the second world war, in 1940.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Forbidden Games: The Criterion Collection! Click Here

The movie (unlike others dealing with children and war, like “Germany, Year Zero”) does not recount a uncomfortable and deadly environment. Certainly, war is sensed all the time, and the pain of falling bombs is ever reveal. However, the movie is area in the seemingly level-headed countryside, not among ruins and combats. That doesn’t diminish the tragic context of the movie at all. Because we have witnessed what Paullette has gone through. And although Michel doesn’t seem to have had any kind of traumatic loss, he’s faded enough to know what’s going on, and what Paullette is suffering. Maybe, this explains the method Michel wants to please Paullette, in her method to say her afflict. Their game of stealing crosses to complete a “large” animal cemetery could be seen as a morbid and macabre play by chlidren putrid by the war, transformed into monsters. However, we never seek information from the innocence that remains in the main characters as children that they are: what’s macabre is not what they do, it’s the war that they are witnessing. They impartial channel the influence of war and its implicit insensible without malice.

Whether this topic is analized as the simplicity of an ill influenced child’s play, or through any psychological or mental connotations or meanings that could be applied, Forbidden Games is collected, even today, a very recent share of cinema, that would hardly near the same meaning if it’s filmed today, without the context and new history that influenced it assist in 1952. Anyway, nowadays, any director that would try to earn a movie like this would score himself being very cautious, and I contemplate he would extinguish up doing something too tragic or too simplistic. René Clement did the fair thing with the material that was handed to him, and the myth and its meaning is so considerable and well executed that can composed be enjoyed today. And what seems to be an initiate ending, is useful to reminds us that in war, for children there are no tickled ending stories.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Forbidden Games: The Criterion Collection! Click Here

Unlike what one might consider about a movie made in 1952 and with children as the lead actors, acting is flawless. I said that we never inquire of the innocence of the children, and that is due in large fragment to the looks and large work of Briggitte Fossey and Georges Poujoly, whom give mammoth credibility to that premise.

Criterion Collection has made available this lovely movie on DVD for the first time. As usual, it’s a commendable work of restoration in many senses: in the sense of allowing more people -like me- to procure to know this movie, and in the sense of giving it the best quality that the latest techniques allow.

The fresh French soundtrack is included, along with the english dubbed, both of them monophonic. Of course, english subtitles are included.

As Bonus materials we have alternate opening and ending, that would have given the movie a different context, less realistic, if you will. But I cannot relieve but contemplate that they also could have given the tale some more contrasting connotations. Also, there are interviews with the director alone and him with Briggitte Fossey (both from the 60’s) and an interview with the actress in 2.001.

Unlike some other Criterion releases, there is no additional track with an expert shedding some light on aspects that might be of interest, but a limited printed essay is included in a booklet.

I watched this over the weekend. The disc contains three different “vignettes” of underwater marine life titled “Sunrise,” “Mediterranean,” and “Caribbean.” They all enjoy the usual reef marine life including, but not slight to, corals, sponges, anemones, clown fish, damsels, angels, and a variety of tangs. Even has the occational sea tiny.

All sequences are static scenes, no pan & scan, no narration. There is an accompanying musical earn which was written especially for this disk by the award winning Gutleut Studios in Frankfurt, Germany which ebbs and flows along with the scenes and the accompanying ocean sounds.

The total running time of the entire disc is 114 minutes. Each of the three scenes last 38, 33, and 43 minutes respectively. It is shot in 4K resolution with the audio track presented in 5.1 DTS-HD High-Res Audio Surround Sound. Describe quality in my plan is reach perfect - you can distinguish the floating particulate and plankton in the water. The reach neon color of fish is extremely well represented.

Having owned a 180 gallon saltwater “marine” aquarium for 15 years I can say that nothing is more immersive than the true thing! However, having said that, this is the next best thing and is EXTREMELY more affordable . After I initially watched this. I replayed it and sat in my approved chair to devour a diminutive reading. I found myself constantly looking away from my book to savor and recall in the sights and sounds of the “virtual” aquarium being presented on my shroud. If you’ve ever owned an aquarium you know exactly what I am referring to.

At any rate, overall, I would give this a 4.5 out of 5.0 for PQ & AQ and recommened it to all…especially if you want an ocean experience on a goldfish bowl budget!

I have a Sony 1080p/24p LCD Tv and the quality on this Blu-Ray is awesome! Its not a pan type shot. It is a unexcited camera pov. Lots of gleaming fish. I am having a party at my house next weekend and i idea on playing this during the party. The only thing i did not like is the lack of set-up features-none. The main menu has the 3 locations to play and you check the ones you want to play encourage to encourage but you DO NOT net a narrate option unless you have one on your BRD player. Otherwise a perfect indicate of BRD 1080p!

I impartial discovered this gem from 1949 and am I overjoyed. It has all the ingredients principal to rep a situation in my Christmas movies Hall of Fame: an adorable cramped boy who wants a express dwelling his widowed mom can’t afford; Janet Leigh as the WWII widow struggling to provide for her son; Wendell Corey as the kind and decent man who wants to marry her; and Robert Mitchum, as the drifter on his diagram to California who changes everything. It has charm without being schmaltzy, humor without being too cutesie, and an ending that has you standing up to cheer. Launch stringing the popcorn and opinion to search for this every Christmas season.

Holiday affair is never mentioned when the roster of Christmas cinema classics is read, which is unhappy because it’s actually a very generous movie. It would be unfair to compare this with It’s A Incredible Life which came out three years earlier, or even Miracle on 34th Street (two years before) . But the similarities in style and tone are there, this being a feel-good Christmas family movie made with intelligence. The studios must have realised they were on to a gracious thing.

Underneath the layer of seasonal schmaltz is a sage with its roots in the then celebrated obsession with psychoanalysis. The jilted fiancé makes references to subconscious desires of Janet Leigh’s character, and the whole yarn is based around a Freudian-Oedipus contrivance with the son taking the plot of a expressionless father. But this is all (unprejudiced) under the surface of the myth of tiny boy who Santa Claus forgot, whose Christmas is made special by a selfless eccentric played by Mitchum. Mitchum is an actor who could be common in almost any character - his face gives so small away that he is often described as ‘laconic’, but it’s obvious that here he is a expedient guy who is so objective he even cuckolds unpleasant veteran Wendell Corey’s character in front of him rather than be deceitful. Corey’s character of `the other man’ is so doomed from the inaugurate to be a dreadful runner up to Mitchum that it must have been a thankless role for him, but he tackles it well. Examine out too for future M*A*S*H* star Harry Morgan (credited as Henry Morgan) who steals one tiny scene as a bemused police lieutenant. If you want a change from Frank Capra or James Bond, try this with your turkey and Brussels sprouts.

Saw this film at the Los Angeles premiere slay of June 2006 - the film is plump of savor for the creative talent of an amazing wordsmith whose music mystically takes his words to an even higher vibration.

the film is so precise the audience gave standing ovations for performances in the film!!!

And Leonard himself came out to thank the audience, saying he was retiring to the green room to fortify himself with a drink to deal with “the apt pneumonia that comes after the blizzard of praise.”

OBTW - he did say he was thinking of going on tour again - at 71 - imagine!

Hagiography is a perfect fit for what it seems was attempted with this movie. And Leonard deserves unprejudiced that, but done well. What is up with that queer noise the director hits us over the head with implying Leonard’s ‘mystic’ place? Is it wind? Music? Definately annoying and totally uncalled for. When Leonard speaks let the audience resolve if what he is saying is profound/esoteric, etc without the parlor tricks. Geez. It made what was happening so amateurish (that ‘noise’) and cheapened the reality of what was being heard and seen.

The reverence by the performers was well represented. I didn’t noteworthy care for the cd that was born of this dvd. Many of the performances seemed too campy, as if they were competing for the best off-kilter interpretation of what are Leonard classics. It was infinately better to perceive and listen as opposed to objective listening to the cd. Antony is the best exception to the ‘interpretive wars’ (watch my cd review for details) . He out shines all with “If It Be Your Will” honoring its novel ambiance with his advise that fair makes you want to roar and you don’t know why.

I know Leonard embraced Lian’s making of this fragment and I can notify she is truly enamoured of him and his talents, but the legend is badly presented. The peculiar noises, the curious employ of visuals and the camera actions produce you mediate more about the ‘film’ being made instead of the mutter, like an annoying fingerprint showing up on each frame of the shroud. She should have remained invisible and let the epic stammer for itself.

I hope someone puts together a ‘hagiography’ of Leonard that does let him note up without all the nonsense.

That said, prefer it! Leonard is in it. I will, despite all perceive it again.

Regards,

Laurie

Released on July 20th, in 2001 in Japan, “Sharp Away” stayed in theaters for almost 10 months, breaking all the previous box-office records in Japan, including that of “Immense” and “Princess Mononoke” by the same director Hayao Miyazaki. With this wonderful film about a girl’s spiritual toddle, Mr. Miyazaki again showed that he is one of the best directors living in the world. This animation film was also awarded prestageous Golden Absorb Prize in Berlin Film Festival, and that is not a surprise at all, after you contemplate this movie.

The film’s epic traces a girl’s queer and racy life in another world, where her parents are accidentally and magically transformed, and she has to survice herself and return to her acquire world. To do so, this pudgy-faced runt girl Chihiro, now deprived of her name by a greedy witch Yu-baba, has to work at the baths where gods and sprites all over Japan approach to engage a rest. Chihiro’s life is plump of incredible (and often hard, even ghastly) things, and through her experiences she learns how to live, gaining the correct will and power, changing from a morose girl languidly lying on the backseat of a car, into a spicy and truely mettlesome girl.

That’s all you have to know: you don’t need to glimpse its trailer (English version trailer is a bit misleading), and honest notice this masterpiece. Though there is a character called “Kao-nashi” (meaning “Faceless”), who out of loneliness does something snide to the place; and there is an episode about a very stinking monster who turns out something very different, there are no villains, no heroes, and no so-called actions. And another strength of the film comes from its designs of the baths. It is based on a mosaic of Japanese and Western traditions (the witch’s office looks obviously Western while Chihiro and other female workers room is inspired from the texitle factory girls’ site 100 years ago) Incredibly, some share are even from Chinese style.

The yarn, some say probably rightly, goes slower in the latter half (of the film that runs more than 2 hours), but “Though-provoking Away” never lets you down. It’s time for any American audience to know Miyazaki’s name, and that animation films are not meant for only kids, but for adults.

[The following might hopefully attend understand some fragment of the film. No spoilers contained, but you might read them after watching them. Al the names referred to are from Japanese current print.]

[1] The name “Chihiro” is, when written in Chinese letters, divided into two parts: “Chi-hiro.” The first fraction “Chi” has another plot of pronounciation, “Sen,” which becomes her temporary name.

[2] Chihiro’s precise name is “Chihiro Ogino” which is briefly seen on the contract paper she signs.

[3] The dazzling boy who offers a succor to Chihio is called “Haku” which means in Japanese, “white.”

[4] Haku’s precise name is “Migihayami Kohakusui.” All the Japanese audience, as Chihiro in fact was, would be surprised to hear this long and primitive name, which clearly suggests his outmoded and aristocratic origin. (CORRECTION added on 1/1/2007) I came upon recently Sonomi’s review pointing out the mistake I made here; Haku’s name is really “Nigihayami Kohakunushi.” I apologize for the mistake.

[5] The witch’s infamous baby is called “Bou” (and his name is written prominently in a Chinese letter on his clothes) . This is shrewd naming because the word “bou-ya” (which is conventional to call, affectinately, to baby boys) implies too grand fondness to the babies on mother’s side.

[6] Chihiro’s father, at the diapidated red gate, talks knowingly about the posibility of a disused theme park. It is moral that Japan saw economic depression after the advise of the 80s, and his remarks, though half telling of his too noteworthy confidence, have some ring of truth.

[7] For Miyazaki’s fans, there are some extra fun: peer, for example, the re-appearance of “Susuwatari”s, dinky murky speck-like creatures that carry coal in a boiler room. As fans know, they are also seen in Miyazaki’s luscious film “My Neighbor Totoro.” And check out one of the “guests” at the spa who looks and moves exactly like Totoro.

[8] And those harmless “Susuwatri”s eat Japanese obsolete, very sweet confectionary called “Konpeitou” made from sugar. This is the allotment Japanese viewers smile because of the unexpected combination.

[9] In the same boiler room, the spider-like obsolete master gives Chihiro “Kaisuu-ken,” coupon-style tickets for issue. This is also the allotment we would smile because we all somehow portion the same experience of giving them to children who go somewhere by vow or bus, or of finding very extinct ones somewhere in the desk.

[10] That same kind master, seeing Chihiro step on the crawling worm, makes a gesture of a knife with his hand, and touches Chihiro’s hands in a novel draw. This is a (now out-of-fashion) custom when touching something very dirty, symbolizing the total safety from the object in case, often accompanied with Japanese word “Engacho” (no more connection) . This piece is also laughable to us.

[11] In the opening scene. slow the assist of Chihiro, you can notice the ogle of half-hidden, red-colored package of chocolate bar, which looks like one well-known designate. Probably, this is a miniature token of thanks for the company (distinguished for coffee, too), which joined in the tie-in campagin for the film’s promotion in Japan.

[12] Finally, director Miyazaki says that the film is originally made for unnamed 10-year-old girls he and the movieproducer are both acquainted with, and hope that those girls are ecstatic to gape the film. No doubt they are.

Spirited Away is yet another masterpiece from Japan’s undisputed master of animation. Although I did not devour it as considerable as Princess Mononoke, I was more entertained by this film than by any Disney movie made in the past five years. Speaking of Disney, I belief I would sure up a few misconceptions that some people have concerning this film. Firstly, for those people who complain that Miyazaki’s films (as well as other anime) are for adults, and not children, I should point out that Miyazaki has explicitly stated that Fascinating was made for young girls. (in other words, Chihiro’s age) This doesn’t mean that the film can only be enjoyed by pre-pubescant girls (I myself am a 22 year aged male) ; it honest means that you should not go into this film expecting something geared towards adults, the arrangement Mononoke was.
Now I have noticed several people on this situation comparing Titillating to Disney. Everyone seems to agree that it is nothing like Disney, because it is scary. Some parents even go so far to say that Engrossing is spoiled for children. Let me honest say that you are all both factual and immoral on this deny. Challenging Away is nothing like Disney as it is NOW. However, if you watch at classics like Snow White, and especially Pinocchio, you’ll peruse that these films have great more in favorite with Inviting Away than with, say, Hercules, or Tarzan. As far as I’m concerned, anyone who claims that Spicy is too scary for children ought to remember what Disney outmoded to be like. In Snow White, the heinous Queen ordered the huntsman to slit out Snow White’s heart. Even more telling, in Pinocchio, the main character ends up on an island for harmful children, who are mercilessly transformed into beasts and sold into slavery. Can you honestly say that this is somehow more wholesome or less nightmarish than what goes on in Attractive? Anyone who remembers these films recognizes that Engaging Away’s often nightmarish sense of morality and justice (parents being turned into pigs for their greed) is not fresh to the American imagination, but something venerable, something many of us have clearly forgotten, even though we saw these very films as children! This harkens help to a time when Americans had a remarkable clearer sense of morality, a grand greater willingness to seek an absolute line between lawful and wicked. For me, this is refreshing, for you it may not be. As for your children being shocked, I agree it is a possibility. I was petrified when I saw Snow White and Pinocchio, yet I enjoyed those two films immensely. Moreover, they are both considered to be undisputed classics of American animation. So to all those parents who contemplate they can comfortably dismiss Involving Away as some alien abomination, you had better inspect closer to home, because it may not be quite as alien as you conception.
